Looks like it does a similar job as the Valve on an EGR. When you accelerate it opens and when you start the car it opens. If the system detects that the valve isn't open under acceleration conditions it throws up a DTC and goes into limp mode.
Your code is showing up as you say as a EGR fault. Toyota tech replied to posting i made along similiar lines some time back. Pointing out that EGR valve is electronically controlled, this could be your reason for receiving your error code. Hi beagh cheers for reply. I ran the car for a drive with the egr disconnected and its still throwing up the fault. So the egr has been eradicated as a fault point. This fault code points to the inlet supply valve also called the egr throttle position sensor on the inlet manifold which also controls the levels of exhaust gas going into the engine.

This is not good news indeed, as you maybe experiencing an oil leak that is clogging the EGR valve as described HERE Please check your air filter and if you notice any traces of engine oil on it, take it immediately to the dealer to trouble-shoot as they might need to replace the oil separator. My Exxy is Aug dCI. Now done just under km. Same problem - Error Code PO Yesterday the mechanic at Nissan removed EGR valve and cleaned it. He said it was easy to access one side of the valve but not the other, due to the length of the tube on that side. He said it took him an hour and a half just to remove the valve for cleaning.
MIL came on again today after only 10 kms. Will be taking it back for third time on Monday and will mention the oil leak possibility. Also will get some feedback on the use of the Wynns EGR3 aerosol.
